I was obsessing about indicated PPD on the F@h app over the past 48 hours and yesterday, turned in my biggest points day to date. What’s interesting about this graphic is that on 6/21 or 6/22, I pressed my 1080 Ti into service and now I have the 1080 Ti as well as the 1060 folding away full time. With bigger producers, the fluctuations appear greater day to day. Interesting.

I bought a Precision T7400 with 1000W PS and dual Xeon four-core procs for $140 and put the 1080 Ti in that and stuck it out in the shed. When and if I ever get back into my classroom, I’ll take the 7400 there and use the district’s electrons. I reinstalled the 1060 in my Precision T3600 daily driver.

how do you get this information?

I see it as amusing that after joking about this fad, I’m now “ranked” at number 2 of the group that’ s not “ranked” I guess that happens around 100,000 points.

not too bad for someone without a real computer.

The moonshot WUs still arent optimized fully yet and thus dont utilize the full power of the cards. There are some that fare better on cuda enabled cards but others like p13415 (and some of the 16xxx series) will only use 50-60% of the gpu. Its gotten a bit better the past day or so with p17200 and other high priority projects from the advanced queue . Though I’ll still occas ionally drop to half my expected ppd with my cards.

It’s a subset of the covid WUs. Looks like they’ve cycled out some of the early ones that gave <10k for 8h of runtime, or at least I can’t find them.

Nothing we can do as users since its a result of how they benchmark the initial WUs for credit.

I recently just joined (“ JoelB”). I have been running Folding@Home on a few lower-power machines since about the middle of March, and only managed to rack up ~5.3 million points. I had to replace my machine at home roughly two weeks ago (first gen Core i7) , and now I could, in theory, be getting ~500,000 points _per day_. That upgrade to a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Radeon R9 290 has really helped out.
